Athens Orthopedic Clinic (AOC) Foundation
For over four decades, Athens Orthopedic Clinic has provided orthopedic care, surgery, and rehabilitation services to the Athens community. The AOC Foundation, established in 1998 as a nonprofit entity for research funded through grants, has led to the development of world-renowned advanced artificial joint replacement devices. These advancements have led to more positive post-surgical outcomes and a faster return to normal activity. Additional research has focused on the care and rehabilitation of athletic injuries, the treatment of traumatized patients & soldiers and the minimally invasive stabilization of spinal disorders. Lastly, through quality control measurements and critical evaluation of outcomes, strategies for cost containment and resource management are being developed to guide future surgeons.
William B. Mulherin Foundation for Health & Wellness
In 2012, AOC established the William B. Mulherin Foundation for Health & Wellness as a community-based nonprofit organization. The Mulherin Foundation provides resources to organizations directly serving individuals with immediate and long-term orthopedic needs in Athens-Clarke and its surrounding counties. By partnering with and supporting these organizations, the Mulherin Foundation is able to increase its impact on individual lives.
