With its newest location in Covington, Athens Orthopedic Clinic is proud to expand its services to Newton and Rockdale counties. Board-certified orthopedic Surgeon Dr. David Harkins is welcoming new patients at 5303 Adams Street in Covington. Dr. Harkins completed his fellowship in surgery of the shoulder and elbow and he is trained in the most advanced technology for shoulder reconstruction and sports injury surgery.
Common orthopedic problems that Dr. Harkins treats are: rotator cuff tears, arthritis, fractures, sprains, and other sports injuries. With a goal of minimally-invasive treatment, Dr. Harkins prefers to conservatively treat patients and only perform surgery when all other treatments have been exhausted. He is proficient in many surgeries including total joint replacement of the knee and shoulder, MAKOplasty, arthroscopy, and clavicle repair.
Dr. Harkins resides in Monroe with his wife, Jill, and his four children. He enjoys running, karate, and participating in sports – his own and his children’s. He reads and is very active in his church. Dr. Harkins currently serves as Team Physician for Monroe Area High School and George Walton Academy.
Dr. Harkins says he is very excited about this opportunity and is looking forward to providing high-quality care for Newton and Rockdale County patients.
