Bringing Specialized Orthopedic Services Closer to the
Lake Oconee Community
Greensboro, Ga. — February 4, 2026 – Athens Orthopedic Clinic (AOC), announced today the launch of an Orthopedic Urgent Care Center at its Lake Oconee Campus. The new service builds upon AOC’s long-standing presence in the area, where its team of physicians and services have provided trusted orthopedic care since 2008.
Region’s First and Only Orthopedic Urgent Care
Designed with convenience and efficiency in mind, the AOC Orthopedic Urgent Care Center allows patients to receive timely evaluation and treatment for musculoskeletal injuries without the long wait times, uncertainty or higher costs often associated with emergency rooms. Patients can walk in Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. and be seen by providers who specialize exclusively in orthopedic conditions.
“Our goal has always been to make expert orthopedic care as accessible and convenient as possible,” said Michael Boblitz, CEO of Athens Orthopedic Clinic. “The Lake Oconee community is growing, and it’s our job to expand services to support the growth. From athletic injuries to everyday orthopedic issues, our aim is to ensure the community has local access to the wide range of orthopedic experts with the ability to simply walk in anytime.”
Expanded Physician Expertise at Lake Oconee
In conjunction with the launch of Orthopedic Urgent Care, AOC continues to expand its physician team serving Lake Oconee. Dr. Clayton Wing recently joined Athens Orthopedic Clinic and specializes in hip and knee replacement surgery. His expertise includes muscle-sparing direct anterior hip replacement and robotic-assisted joint replacement technology, allowing for enhanced precision and improved surgical outcomes. Dr. Wing completed an Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, and earned his medical degree with honors from the Medical College of Georgia. A Georgia native, he enjoys an active lifestyle with his family and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs.
Also joining the Lake Oconee practice is Dr. William Tally, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, who has been part of Athens Orthopedic Clinic since 2010. He specializes in complex spinal reconstruction and completed advanced fellowship training in orthopedic and neurosurgical spinal reconstruction at the University of Pennsylvania Health System, along with pediatric spine surgery training at A. I. duPont Children’s Hospital. Dr. Tally earned his medical degree from Wake Forest School of Medicine and completed his residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Outside of medicine, he is an avid racecar driver, a passion that reflects the precision and discipline he brings to patient care.
