Summary

This study assessed how well the AOFAS Clinical Rating Systems align with the validated SF-36 outcomes measure in 91 patients with foot and ankle conditions. Correlations between the two tools were generally low—ranging from 0.02 to 0.36 overall and slightly higher for ankle-hindfoot disorders. These results indicate that the AOFAS systems have limited construct validity compared to the SF-36 for evaluating patient outcomes.
