Summary

This retrospective study reviewed 242 trapeziectomy with suture button suspensionplasty (SBS) procedures for thumb CMC arthritis performed by a single surgeon, with an average 35-month follow-up. Patients showed excellent outcomes, with an average postoperative DASH score of 12 and a low complication rate (5%). Implant-related issues occurred in 3% of cases, most commonly suture button pull-outs or metacarpal abutments. Overall, SBS demonstrated strong clinical results and appears to be a safe, effective alternative to ligament reconstruction tendon interposition for CMC arthritis treatment.
