Summary:
This study reviewed 35 patients who underwent total wrist replacement, comparing specialized occupational therapy with general therapy after surgery. Patients receiving specialized therapy had significantly fewer complications, while improvements in wrist movement and grip strength were similar between groups. Additional surgery rates and surgical costs were also comparable. The findings suggest specialized occupational therapy may help reduce complications following total wrist replacement.
