Dr. Smith is a board certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder and knee as well as in orthopedic sports medicine, upper and lower extremity trauma, and degenerative conditions. He attended medical school at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center and then did his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia, where he developed his interest in Sports and Trauma. Dr. Smith then went on to complete additional training in a Fellowship in Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy, and Orthopedic Trauma at the Lake Tahoe Orthopedic Institute in Zephyr Cove, Nevada. During his fellowship, he was a Team Physician for the United States Ski Team and for various collegiate and high school athletic programs.
Dr. Smith specializes in sports related injuries, with significant interest in arthroscopic treatment of shoulder and knee injuries, minimally invasive joint and ligament reconstruction, and upper and lower extremity fracture care and degenerative conditions.
