Summary

This study evaluated near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) as a non-invasive method to monitor blood flow in an acute compartment syndrome (ACS) model. Researchers found that NIRS readings decreased in response to lowering perfusion pressures, suggesting it could be a useful tool for continuous monitoring of patients at risk for ACS. Further research in trauma patients is needed to confirm these findings.
