Summary

This study assessed near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) for monitoring acute compartment syndrome (ACS) after lower extremity fractures. Researchers found that oxygenation levels in injured compartments remained elevated 48 hours after surgical stabilization, reflecting a sustained hyperaemic response. These findings suggest that NIRS can help track leg injuries during the critical period when ACS risk is highest.
